 Sean
Bellemeur waits in the staging lanes for his Saturday race with
Brendan Murry.
 Both cars back up after
their burnouts.
 Bellemeur had a slight
advantage off the line and held on for a very close 6.01 @ 242
to a 6.05 @ 229.35 win in the "bad lane". The fans
were duly impressed.
 Bellemeur's Sunday match
up was with Jack "The Sheriff" Harris in his Nitro
Thunder fueler. He might have had a clue that this race could
put him in the history books as a trivia question. Who was in
the other lane when Harris broke the 260mph barrier?
 Bellemeur is guided
back from his burnout by Walt Stevens.
 Both drivers move into
the staging beams together.
 Bellemeur stages as
the crew looks on.
 Both cars left together.
 As the magical number
comes up on the scoreboard for Harris, the late afternoon air
is filled with oil smoke from Nitro Thunder's headers. This is
not from burned pistons but from back pressure when Harris closes
the throttle. Nonetheless, Jack Harris became the first driver
to exceed 260mph in a front engine Top Fuel dragster. Lost in
the excitement, Bellemeur tripped the lights with a respectable
6.01 @ 242.
