Sunday Eliminations Round One

Following the National Anthem it was round one of Top Fuel eliminator.

#1 Mendy Fry and #8 Tyler Hilton rolled out being the second pair in the opening stanza.

Fry left first and never looked back.

Hilton started smoking the tires before the tree.

Fry came out swinging with low ET of the meet, 5.582 at 258.42.

Sunday Eliminations Round Two

The final pair to decide who would meet McGee in the final were Mendy Fry and Pete Wittenberg who beat Fry in the final round of the 2018 March Meet. Fry didn't want that to happen again. However, now Wittenberg now has a bad ass hot rod and was capable of running with the High Speed car.

Wittenberg took a nice starting line advantage, but Fry chased him down for the win.

Remember the March Meet? Just sayin'.

Wittenberg took out a mid track block, game over.

Once again Fry ran low E.T. of the session (5.554 at 261.62) and gained lane choice over McGee in the final.

Top Fuel Final

Then there were two. Mendy and the High Speed team laid back in the lanes. Ditto for close friends Tedford and McGee.

Who better to strap you in than Sean Bellemeur.

For Rick McGee this was already a win. He and Darrell Tedford had suffered through a three year performance drought until this weekend. What a difference a cam makes.

The only backup person Mendy has known since joining the team, Walt Stevens kept her where Tom Shelar wanted his car.

McGee took a shot at the tree and hit it. His 0.036 to Fry's 0.103 RT gave him a huge starting line advantage.

Despite Rick's jump, Fry's 5.610 at 259.36 was too much for McGee's game 5.749 at 256.50. Fry's MOV: 0.0720 seconds (approximately 27 feet).

Let the celebrations begin.

The first person Mendy went to was old friend Rick McGee ... great race, congratulations.

Funny Car runner-up Rian Konno and ex-High Speed crew member with Tom Shelar.

Funny Car winner, Jason Rupert and Shelar pop a cold one.

NHRA Motorsports Museum Executive Director, Larry Fisher carted up with Greg Sharp to congratulate the winners.

A quick stop at the scales and it was back to the pits for several adult festivities.
