2009 March Meet - Top Fuel
Results & Photos
Bakersfield, 03.08.09: After
qualifying #1 with a 5.69 in the season opening NHRA Hot Rod
Heritage Racing Series race, Brett Harris marched through the
2009 March Meet 16 car Top Fuel field like Grant taking Richmond.
Harris, driving the Kaysville, Utah based "Nitro Thunder"
had low ET every round (incliding a 5.65) cumulating with the
quickest side-by-side final in NTF history.
After three rounds of racing
Harris was paired with the ever consistent Rick White in the
Neal & White fueler from San Diego. As the sun was setting
in the west, Harris cut a great 0.057 light and stayed just ahead
of a very game White getting there first with a 5.674 at 263.77
(top speed of the meet) to Rick's career best 5.684 at 259.36.
In short it was one hell of a drag race.
The win was the fifth for the
father and son team of Jack and Brett this decade. Jack has won
three and now Brett has two. John Bowser was overheard saying,
"We need to get a new trophy 'cause all yours look alike."
