High Speed Motorsports Eye 4th
NHRR Title
Anaheim, CA 05.29.07: Reigning NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion
Top Fuel champions Highspeed Motorsports will head to Columbus,
Ohio on June 15-17 to defend their title and attempt to make
themselves a 4 time winner of this event. Since its inaugural
in 2003, the NHRR was contested at Bowling Green, KY where the
High Speed team were runner-up once and won 3 of the 4 years
they attended. For 2007 the race has been moved to Columbus,
Ohio which will make a forth win a little more difficult as they
have never competed at that track before.
"Our team is excited and
up for the challenge of attacking the track and giving 110%."
said crew chief Brett Johansen. "Just after having our best
outing so far this year, number one qualifier and runner-up at
the Boise Ignitor has helped our confidence level going to Columbus."
With a mix of outstanding midwest
and east coast top fuel teams competing against some of the best
west coast top fuel teams always makes for great entertainment
for the huge crowds at the NHRR. "This is the only event
of its kind each year where we have a chance to measure our performance
against some very strong teams that we don't get the chance to
compete against on the west coast," said driver Troy Green.
"I know how tough these guys can be out here. I used to
race them when I ran my own car based out of Oklahoma. Even though
I still live in Oklahoma, I kind of feel like I am on the other
side now driving a west coast car, but this is like a homecoming
for me, having the chance to line up next to some of the guys
I grew up racing against."
HSMS CEO Dale Singh sees this
event as a chance to expose their major sponsors, SilverThin
Bearings and Players Network to thousands of fans. Singh stated,
"Columbus is the only event we compete at east of the Rockies
and its important to the team and our sponsors that we take our
A game with us. We consider the NHRR one of the three major events
of the season and a forth win, especially at a strange track,
would be very satisfying".
