"Next Stop - Boise, Idaho"
On Friday April 20th Lara and
I got on a plane and headed to "not so sunny" LA! When
we landed it was cool, cloudy and lightly raining....for once
it was actually nicer in Oklahoma than LA! Brett picked us up
at LAX and we promptly headed to In-n-Out burger...it is a ritual
for us out of towners. From there it was out to Ontario for a
display at Dave and Busters. Even though it was raining, there
was a nice turnout and we made some new friends.
Saturday morning we headed out
to Fontana for a day of testing. It was definitely sweatshirt
weather in the morning! After getting the car unloaded and the
pit set up, our team went to work. We were offered the new M&H
tire to test and we were more than happy to try it out. Brett
and I have been looking forward to getting this tire on our car
for a while now. With some suggestions from the Hashims, Marv
Rifchin and Jack Harris we went to the starting line just hoping
to go a few hundred feet.
Well, it went about twenty feet
and smoked the tires! I guess we missed a little!
On our next run we went back
to the old tire and went back to try to go to the eighth mile,
this time testing our new fuel tank, fuel line and new fuel pump.
The car left pretty good and ran nice and clean to half track.
All of our new parts worked great.
We also had a new engine block
in the car with a completely re-designed girdle that team manager
Tom Shelar designed and built. After both runs, the mains were
inspected and they looked perfect. Not even a mark on a bearing.
By now the sun was setting on our successful day of testing.
Our next stop is at Boise Idaho
for the Ignitor on May 12th and 13th. I am very excited to race
at Boise, it will be my first time to go down this historic track
and hopefully we will be around late on Sunday! Please stop by
and say hi if you happen to make out!
Til next time, Troy & Lara
