SATURDAY - FINAL
Here it was, the race the team
had traveled 2000 miles to run. Shelar's one goal was to dethrone
Bartone and put a 7th notch in their Bowling Green win book.
It was two drag racing vets,
Bill Dunlap vs. the favored Tony Bartone who took the preferred
left lane.
Bartone got a slight
advantage with Dunlap right on his tail.
Bartone spun the tires at the
800' mark but recovered quickly and that's all Dunlap needed
to seal the deal.
And there it was, Dunlap was
the champ and Bartone streak was ended. To say the entire team
was elated would be a gross understatement.
